So, Emilie Autumn is coming to Europe…

BUT SHE IS NOT COMING TO DENMARK.

Yes, I know, I’ve already met her once, but still… x_______x I wanna see her againnnnn.

g-wretch:

I just remembered that one time I was high and referred to Hamlet as “The Fresh Prince of Denmark”

So, I went to see “Skammerens Datter” yesterday.

It’s a Danish musical, based on a high fantasy book. ^_^ It’s about a seer girl called Dina who can see everything a person is ashamed of/has done wrong by looking into their eyes. (the title means “The Shamer’s Daughter”) I kind of hated the original book, so I was surprised by how awesome the musical was. 8D I also loved that they expanded Rosa’s character; she was one of the only good things about the book. Nicodemus the angsty prince really reminded me of a fusion between Zuko and Sirius Black, lol. (who are actually already pretty similar) What with the whole “I MUST GET MY FATHER’S APPROVAL TO REGAIN MY HONOR and btw I was framed for murder partially because of my own recklessness I WILL NEVER GET MY HONOR BACK NOW” thing. xD Ohh, and the music was fucking amazing. I’ve had one of the songs stuck in my head all day.

O_O OH MY GOD. Is it just me, or does the voice-over actress of Lin in the Danish dub of “Legend Of Korra” sound EXACTLY like the voice-over actress of McGonagall in the Danish dub of Harry Potter?

I wonder if it’s the same voice actress 8DD It would be a perfect fit, lol.

Fellow Danes, I need halp.

Do any of you guys know if there’s a livestream of the Danish Nickelodeon anywhere? The dub of “The Legend Of Korra” is airing in 15 minutes, and I want to know if the translation/voice-acting is awful. xDDD

Amnestys arbejde for kvinders rettigheder tager udgangspunkt i FN’s Kvindekonvention.

Okay, Google translate completely mangles that text. So here’s a translation courtesy of yours truly. I’ve kept mry’s bolded passages.

[TW: rape] Amnesty: Rape in Denmark

Danish women, who have been raped are dscriminated in both law and practice. Only one of every 5 reported rapes end with a court sentence. About three of every four cases are closed without ever appearing before the court. Amnesty’s report ‘Case Closed’, which was published on september 16th 2008, documents the flaws in legislature and legal practice with regards to rape cases in the Nordic countries.

Every year approximately 500 rapes are reported in Denmark. However, surveys suggest that only a fraction of all rapes are reported. Experts deem that between 2000 and 10.000 rapes are committed every year in Denmark.

Not “real rape”.

A woman reporting a man she knows already - often her current or former partner - is treated with suspicion when meeting police and lawyers. This type of rape aren’t considered “real rape”, shows a survey of the cooperation between the police and women who report rape.

This suspicion makes it harder for a woman to proce that she’s been raped and to have the case tried in court. If this type of rape case does end in court, the pre-existing relation between victim and perpetrator will be taken into account and the sentence is usually lighter. The Danish law even contains the possibility for reduction in sentence length if the victim and the perpetrator marry.

The fact that the relation between victim and perpetrator is taken into account is especially problematic, because by far the majority of rapes are perpetrated by a man, whom the victim already knows. And also because rapes perpetrated by a current or former partner are often those that cause the greatest physical and psychological scars. Amnesty recommends that the existing relation between victim and perpetrator should not have any consequence in terms of sentence length.

In Danish legislation sex with a woman who is unable to defend herself is not considered rape, unless the perpetrator himself is directly responsible for the woman’s condition. Sex with a defenseless victim is punishable with only half the sentence length of rape. Amnesty recommends that nonconsensual sex with a defenseless victim is considered as rape with regards to the law.

Thus in practice neither rapes committed by persons the woman knows already nor sex with a defenseless victim are treated as rapes. Only assault rapes are considered and treated as “real rapes”. And this despite the fact that the victim in more than 60% of rape cases bear the physical marks of having been exposed to violence. As 60% of all rape cases are closed before any appearance in court, it would suggest that cases are closed even when there are objective evidence of violence. Amnesty recommends that more rape cases go to court, so the victim’s and the accused’s testimonies will be heard by the court.

Rapists walk free.

If a woman accuses a man of having raped her, and he defends himself with a claim of consensual sex, the case will often be closed because of insufficient evidence. This means that rape victims have poor chances in the Danish court system - and even worse if victim and perpetrator knew each other beforehand.

When it’s the woman’s word against the man’s, the case will often be decided in his favour. The case will be closed by the police and prosecution services, because they deem the evidence insufficient for a prosecution. This means that many rapists walk free. Amnesty recommends that the Danish rape legislation is changed, so it states in no uncertain terms that the point of the law is the protection of the victim’s right to sexual self-determination. Amnesty believes that it is a violation of human rights that such a great number of reported rapes in Denmark are never seen in court.

Amnesty’s work for women’s rights is based in the UN Convention on the Discrimination Against Women. Amnesty encourages the Danish government to change the parts of the legislation that discriminates against rape victims, and to decide on a plan of action to address the lack of legal protection for women who have been raped.

*****

There you go. Complete translation. Bolding by mry.

At least the current law does acknowledge rape between victim and perp of the same sex, female perps and male victims as well as oral and anal rape, none of which counted as rape 10 years ago. Mind, they don’t actually show up in the “rape clause” of the criminal law, but that’s because it’s easier legislation-wise to add a few clauses than to change or remove an existing one. All the above kinds are counted in each their own clause and all have the same set of possible sentence lengths attached.

Fat lot of good that does us if they’re not used or the cases never even go to court.

Heat wave in Denmark.

And Danish houses are not exactly optimized for 30°C. Nor are Danish people, for that matter, lol.

So yeah, I feel like I’m in the fucking Boiling Rock. XD

xD I feel like the only Dane not going to celebrate Sankt Hans. In my small town, it’s hellish, because there’s only ever one bonfire, and pretty much everyone’s there, and everyone knows each other, and I refuse to be in the same place as people who I detest. XD (*cough* my old classmates *cough*)
